#2,309 Farewell, Season One.

Tonight we sent off season one with a celebration all over downtown Laurel and a watch party at Laurel Little Theatre, right where we began with the pilot watch party in January 2016. To be surrounded by our family and friends and this sweet community is such a gift to us. This is their show just as much as it’s ours. At the end, Amber and I sang her song, My Hometown, together again just like we did at the end of the finale episode. It felt good to perform on a stage again. It’s been so long! And afterward, because […]

#2,302 Keeping Our Hometowns Strong.

Remember a few weeks ago when I told you Ben and I spent a whole Sunday afternoon working on a storyboard for something very special? This was the rough draft of those boards: And this is the stunning final product: Tonight on Home Town, you got to visit the foundry with Ben, Josh and Jim. That company has been part of the fabric of our city since the turn of the twentieth century, and we’re lucky to count the Mulloy family as friends. There are factories like this all over America whose communities depend on them, and at Laurel Mercantile we’re proud […]

#2,301 Marathon.

Well, so the Home Town marathon is happening tomorrow (which may actually be today if you’re reading this on Tuesday), and today we finished up shooting and editing our first promo film for the Mercantile that we will release tomorrow and got to go back to where we started at Ross and Laura’s house. You can see their episode when the marathon begins May 16 at noon central and they’ll be airing all day up until the new episode at 9:00 ct. I’m so excited to relive the old episodes since we have 2 more new episodes left of season […]

#2,283 To Be Continued.

First things first… It’s an incredible day because we can finally announce some big news we’ve been sitting on for a week, dying to tell you.  We got renewed for season 2 of Home Town! I can’t wait to see our favorite circus come back to town, to hug their necks, to eat inordinate amounts of snacks on set and get dinners together at the Loft with our amazing film crew. I can’t wait to see what new families we will meet, what homes will be restored! We also got to spend the morning speaking to a huge crowd of […]

#2,281 The Patriot + Mathews House.

After learning so much about the Revolutionary War in Boston, we couldn’t stop ourselves from watching The Patriot on the flight home. And it was just as awesome as I remember. After finally making it back home to Laurel we headed straight to two parties: the first one honored Laurel Main Street members Lott Furniture Co. and the volunteers of the year, Robby and Angie Scruggs. And then we dropped by Amanda’s watch party for her episode tonight and hugged her neck before heading home and putting on our pajamas to watch the show: I hope her episode made you […]

#2,280 Upfronts, Again.

We’re so honored to have been invited to the final upfront of the season that brought us all the way up here to Boston. It’s been a dream! We shared the stage tonight with Josh Gates again (from the amazing Expedition Unknown) and Katie Lee from The Kitchen. It’s so wild to see our show advertised as big as a billboard! We’re feeling so grateful to work for a company that embraces the world changers, explorers and makers in a way no other network does. It’s such an honor to be a small part of it.

We got some very good news today and we celebrated it with our friends under the stars with a cool breeze and good food and Charlie Daniels on the radio. I can’t wait to tell you about it, but we can’t quite yet.

#2,267 Good End to an Anxious Day.

Can I tell you something? Tuesdays are so exciting now because of the show. They also make me anxious.  I spend the whole day anticipating, wondering what y’all will notice or like. I get jitters for our sweet homeowners who haven’t seen any of the episodes and it’s brand new for them on national television each week. I wonder what trolls will try to hurt us with a cutting remark. I worry over if the rooms will look on film the way they actually did in life. It’s a very naked feeling every week. For an hour, our hardest work […]

#2,260 The Holloway House.

Tonight’s episode of Home Town is easily one of the most powerful of the season, and we got to share it with Bill and Jody (the homeowners) and friends and neighbors at a watch party tonight that was so fun and rowdy, full of cheering and hugging and eating and crying and clapping, everyone could feel how special it was. After a reception and dinner, we all gathered at the event venue down the street to settle in and watch the show… But the wifi lost its signal and we lost the live feed. PANIC ENSUED FOR 30 SECONDS as the […]

#2,659 Mimmo’s Friends.

Tonight we snuck away to Quitman, just the two of us, for one last totally indulgent meal before we get back on track with eating right and exercising tomorrow. It’s been a week of anything goes, and Mimmo’s garlic knots are at the top of our list of so good it’s bad foods: After we had finished our meal and the restaurant was closing up for the night, the family a couple tables over asked if we would mind taking a picture before we go. They told us they were nervous to ask, which was so endearing we immediately gave […]
