#2,454 The New Bathroom.

The master bathroom renovation has been a journey to say the least. Demo began on June 28 and the bathroom interior was complete yesterday, October 9, when the shower glass was installed, though that hasn’t stopped us from loving using it since the day the plumbing fixtures went in a couple weeks ago. We’ve wanted a separate tub and walk-in shower for so long, I guess since Ben destroyed his ankle way back in 2010 when he realized how tricky it is getting in a tub when you’re his size and injured. It’s going to be something we’re glad we did […]

#2,358 Rugs + Town Tour.

Finally, I feel like a real legit grown up because I took the time to choose rugs I really LOVE for our bedroom instead of the ones I picked quickly when we bought the house. There is something about the color and the plushness of them that makes the room feel softer, more dignified. Earlier tonight we had a dinner with Patrick (our season 2 director you’ll be hearing about a lot going forward) and showed him around town. The sky gave us the perfect cotton candy backdrop. We even snuck in to Josh’s restaurant that’s dangerously close to […]

#2,454 The Best House (Maybe Ever).

Tonight we had the great pleasure of attending an engagement party/shower for our friends Bill and Jody. You might remember they got engaged a couple months ago and he’s an outrageously talented architect on our show. This shower was held at a home he actually designed a few years ago and while I’ve always heard him talk about how it’s such a dream… I never imagined it might possibly be the most beautiful home I’ve ever actually walked through. It’s a comfortable, palatial low country-esque home that was built in 1905 and saved from total collapse when they won it in an […]

#2,448 Wreath + Sweet November.

It is still hot as blue blazes but there are cooler breezes sometimes at night and fall will officially begin this month, and so, every year on September 1, I put out my fall wreath and feel excited about what’s to come. This usually coincides with the first Ole Miss game of the season, which is tomorrow, so I’m right on schedule! Also, because we’re going through a 90s nostalgia moment this week with the Chris Farley documentary + the rediscovery of Barenaked Ladies’ Rock Spectacle album on the way home from New Orleans, tonight I got a hankering to […]

#2,427 House Makeover.

I woke up this morning and for no reason at all realized that our house feels like us 5 years ago, but not quite us in 2016, and I’m ready to do a tiny makeover. Occupational hazard, I reckon. It’s just that we never quite finished furnishing the house and I’m ready to finish it up and freshen it up. I spent the cloudy afternoon at my computer scouring the Internet for affordable rugs and pretty light fixtures and couldn’t believe a few of the deals I found. Mostly, I enjoyed pretending it was chilly outside and wearing the new […]
