#2,391 Filming with Mama.

Mama and I got to film the most fun scene yet of season 2, over her sewing machine, where we laughed until we actually cried–even the crew. When the scene wrapped with a gorgeous custom pillow to show for it, the cameras went off and Elvis came on (because, of course, never forget) and she pulled out a huge spread of sandwich trays and fruit and chips and dips and cupcakes and fed all the boys who kept hugging her and making me feel grateful for a team who loves our people and for a mama who loves them back.

#2,385 Support System.

We worked so hard this week, I can barely hold my eyes open to write this sentence. Today I’m grateful for our friends at the shops all over Laurel who have opened their doors and their inventories to our little production–places like Lott Furniture where Mal and I got to take a little adventure this afternoon. I’m also thankful for the silly boys I spend my days with at work and floor fans that feel good when they poof out your shirt on a really hot day. And mamas who hem your new dress at 8 pm on a Thursday. […]

#2,384 Storm Watch.

We were rushing to wrap filming tonight at 7:00 when our phones lit up with warnings a severe storm was 15 minutes away. Cameras that cost more than some houses in Laurel aren’t waterproof so it’s serious business when you’ve got one chance to get the scene. As soon as we finished, we hopped in the car and drove home to beat the rain and Ben waited for it on the porch, relishing the cool breeze that came first. We sat on the swing when it started to pour down and I laid my head on his big heavy chest, […]

#2,383 DIY Day.

Mallorie and I got together at 8:00 this morning to start the first DIY projects of season 2, and neither rain nor mosquitoes could stop us. I’m thankful that our framily gets to be such an integral part of all the work we do. How lucky are we to have such talented friends?

#2,377 House Shopping Day 1 Done.

This is what you need to know about home renovation shows: The day you see the houses the homeowners choose from is the absolute hardest day of filming out of the entire 2 months it takes to make one episode. It means being on your feet from 7 am to 6 pm, talking about your ideas with great enthusiasm, repeating yourself lots and lots so you get it all in there as concisely as possible, and at the end of the day… You crawl out of the car and into the shower, make yourself a little supper while keeping your […]

#2,376 Season 2.

Today was our first day of filming season 2 of Home Town! It’s so strange how we wait and prepare for this day for months, then it happens and feels like riding a bike and like the most normal day, relatively speaking, if film slates and cameras become normal somehow.   Day 1, roll 1, season 2. 🎉📽 #HGTVHomeTown A post shared by Erin Napier (@erinapier) on Jul 31, 2017 at 7:52am PDT In just a few very short months, we will have this season under our belts, and the cycle will begin again if we’re very lucky. I’m so […]

#2,370 Season 2 Kick Off No. 1.

The first of two parties happened tonight kicking off season two of Home Town! Just like we have for the last two years, we gathered together at my parents’ house on the back porch for a party. As always, daddy made his famous fried fish which is a real delicacy for a lot of the folks on the team who are from outside the south. We feel so lucky to have a production company full of people who know our heart and our vision and found all the right people to make it real.

#2,280 Upfronts, Again.

We’re so honored to have been invited to the final upfront of the season that brought us all the way up here to Boston. It’s been a dream! We shared the stage tonight with Josh Gates again (from the amazing Expedition Unknown) and Katie Lee from The Kitchen. It’s so wild to see our show advertised as big as a billboard! We’re feeling so grateful to work for a company that embraces the world changers, explorers and makers in a way no other network does. It’s such an honor to be a small part of it.

#2,267 Good End to an Anxious Day.

Can I tell you something? Tuesdays are so exciting now because of the show. They also make me anxious.  I spend the whole day anticipating, wondering what y’all will notice or like. I get jitters for our sweet homeowners who haven’t seen any of the episodes and it’s brand new for them on national television each week. I wonder what trolls will try to hurt us with a cutting remark. I worry over if the rooms will look on film the way they actually did in life. It’s a very naked feeling every week. For an hour, our hardest work […]

#2,651 Ratings + Sunnyday.

We woke up this morning to the news that between Tuesday night and DVR on Wednesday, 4.2 million sweet people tuned in to Home Town’s premiere. I can’t begin to understand a number like that. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU from the bottoms of our hearts. We’ve got 10 more weeks of season 1 coming, and I’m so glad you’re along for the ride with us! After church, we spent the entire day outside. I’ve been battling some of the worst allergies of my life but it wasn’t bad enough to keep me inside on one of the prettiest […]
