#880 Maps.

We’ve been collecting old maps of places that are special to Ben and I, places we’ve been and places we’d like to go someday to hang from floor to ceiling in our reading room and so far we’ve got a really neat collection, though none of it’s been framed yet. There are 2 maps we don’t have though, 2 of the most important ones. We’ve been wanting one of Lake Junaluska, and a standard cartographer style map of Mississippi. The only one we have right now is a literary map of Mississippi that’s more illustrative than a normal map. Tonight Ben and I were talking to our preacher, Brother Gene, and as I was looking around his office I found not only a map of Lake Junaluska from before it was developed, but also 6 gorgeous vintage maps of Mississippi from the 1800s. I was so excited, and he told me that the Mississippi ones were a set of reproductions I could buy from the Old Capitol Building Museum in Jackson, but the Lake J one might be harder to come by. Tomorrow I intend to make some phone calls until I hunt one down for us. I’d show you pictures, but I didn’t take any because I’m forgetful and I was so thirsty I thought I was dying which made me rush out of there. So. Tomorrow, I hope to have some pictures to show you!
