#681 Getting to know you.

We spent the day lying in the grass letting Chevy get to know us. He’s so VERY afraid of people for some reason, so we’re taking it slow. He likes to eat out of our hands and lie close to Ben, but he won’t come when we call him or walk with us. They say it’s baby steps with Pyrenees pups, so I’m trying not to worry about it too much.

We even invited Sugar and Hooper to play and try to make him come out of his shell. It worked sort of—he liked watching them and followed them around the yard a few times.

I hope by this time next week he’s feeling more comfortable. Until then, I’ll be taking my Zyrtec and Benadryl and facing the pet store for goodies that might make him happy.

  1. Some accidents are good ones! I was searching information/photos on Laurel and accidentally found your blog…this was about a couple of weeks ago, and I have not missed a day of "checking in" (lol) to see whats new and old (older posts) How charming I find this read! Its like the book you just can't put down, you know? lol. The styling of the loft was great(!) and cant wait to see how you two's home (now three with pup!) evolves. Can't wait for the next post! By the way, my name is Jimmy B…thanks for sharing! May God continue to bless!

  2. My only recommendation is to not coddle him too much. You have to remember that he's a dog, and any kind of affection that he receives will be seen as reinforcement for however he is behaving at the time, and you don't want to encourage the shy and withdrawn behavior.
