#248 Jedge.

On our way to the coast tonight, Ben’s little brother Jesse called me because he was bored to death waiting on us to get there. He’s a junior in high school and has been trying to choose the college he’ll attend since about… 7th grade. We talked about the options for 30 minutes, and I probably confused him more than I helped. I, a diehard Ole Miss Rebel, told him that going to State or Ole Miss would both be perfectly great choices. I love to give advice, though I doubt anyone ever takes it which is fine too: he’s got to live his own life and do what feels right. It’s like that Sunscreen song from the 90s. He says: Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

Regardless of what school he chooses, I can’t wait to see what becomes of him.
