#2,413 Dating.

Lately, we have been so content to spend all our time together, just the two of us. In the years since we’ve been together, we seemed most often to find ourselves spending dinners that went late into the night with our dearest friends, talking about everything and nothing–an unending real life Seinfeld episode, just the way we liked it.

But these days we’ve found ourselves staying home more, making a date for two on the quiet nights we are away from set or the wood shop. The busier life gets, the more I’m drawing in to home and to Ben, my favorite places on earth. It feels like we get to date each other all over again, except now pajama pants are the ultimate luxury. Tonight we mixed it up by stopping by the tailgate party at the Mercantile before going to the movies for the first time in many many months.

And afterward at nearly 10 pm, rather than spend a dinner in a restaurant, we called in a carry out order from our favorite to eat it at home together, where it is quiet and it smells like apple cider and the air conditioner keeps the house refrigerated and James Taylor is on the radio and the big, cushy white sofas are waiting for us with blankets thrown over every arm. I love dating. At home.
