#2,378 Laurel Mercantile Co.

Around the turn of the 20th century, the Laurel Mercantile Co. stood in downtown Laurel. It’s been many decades since the doors closed and I’ve never been able to locate the original building, but the idea of it has fascinated me and given me a heartsick feeling for a place I never even visited.

As y’all know, a few weeks ago, we formed a business partnership with our 4 best friends. And the exciting thing we want to tell you is… By the end of this year, the new Laurel Mercantile Co. will be opening in downtown Laurel. It will be a shop for Scotsman Co. and Lucky Luxe wares, among other oddities and cozifiers for the home. After we’ve closed on the building, I’ll tell you all about the location and bring y’all along on the renovation process here in my journal.

My design professors at Ole Miss always told us the most iconic logos have something in common: one should be able to draw it with a magic marker. So, here’s the first look!

The older I get, the more I’m learning to trust the Lord and His leading, to be bold and brave and take a leap of faith when He puts desires in our hearts that are much bigger than we could dream on our own.  Because where God’s finger points, His hand will always clear the way.
