#2,201 New Year.

To ring in the new year yesterday we went out to the old family farm that Jim and Mal have recently inherited where the guys were shooting clays and we brought some supplies (Doritos and strawberry Crush).

Then last night, we grilled out with a roaring fire going in the firepit and the big movie screen set up so we could watch When Harry Met Sally which will never ever ever get old to me. Don’t you love that movie? “When you meet the love of your life, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”

We stepped into 2016 with the Razzles, Rories, Tews and Batemans, a fine group of folks to celebrate an impossibly special year. We sure missed the Nowells who are off on a fun vacation, though.

Today we loafed around with the Rories until it was time to head to my parents’ house for the traditional New Year dinner for health, wealth, and luck:

And we crammed into their living room and watched the Rebels bring home a big victory over Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl.

I’m really sorry your team couldn’t win too, Ashlee. We definitely know how it feels to lose. We’re Ole Miss fans. It happens. Afterward, we hugged Josh and Rebecca’s necks since they’ll be heading back home to Memphis in the morning. I’m going to miss her so much!

P.S. The website was down all day, so I’m really sorry for any of you who came knocking on our interweb door and found that we weren’t home. It should be all patched up now and good to go. Let’s have the best year ever, friends. What do you say?!

  1. I love your blog so much! The sweetest couple ever! I read daily. And, I hate to say this, but am having trouble with your pictures showing up. It always shows screenshot and the number and a blue question mark in the middle of the blank space. Am I doing something wrong? Never had this problem until a week ago or so.
    Happy New Year!

    • Aww thank you so much, Rosemary! You’re so kind! My mama has intermittent issues with pages loading slowly, and I think it might have something to do with internet speed and what web browser you use. I can’t duplicate the issue on my computer though, so who knows what’s wrong! I hope it clears up. I know it’s annoying!

  2. Ha! We certainly know how it feels too being Oklahoma State fans! We’ll have really great high highs and then very low lows, but it was awesome just having the season we did and getting to go to the Sugar Bowl. Congrats to your Rebs!

  3. Wow, your mention of Doritos and Strawberry Crush brought back memories of my childhood when that was my favorite snack! This is way back in the 60s, before you were even a twinkle in your daddy’s eye 🙂 My mom was a single mom working as a waitress in a diner so money was always pretty tight but once in a while she’d splurge on a bag of doritos and a big bottle of what we called “red pop”.

I’ve been having the same problem as Rosemary with some pictures just not loading. Some do, but a lot don’t, even if I leave the page open for an hour. This just started happening about a week ago.
