#2,033 Pass or Fail.

Can you remember a time when you had a very hard test? In school, in work, in life?

You studied/worked/tried so hard, for days on end, and you didn’t take any chances — you worried about things you knew for sure wouldn’t be tested/noticed/important, but just in case, it’s better to learn/focus on those so well you could recite/stand by/be proud of them.

Or maybe you had a looming deadline and it didn’t seem humanly possible to get it done in time, but if you didn’t, you would lose what you’d worked so hard for.

I’ve been working on a project like that, that against all odds I felt like I was losing. And when I finally felt like I had done all I could to make it perfect and hit that ‘send’ button in all its finality at 1 pm, I felt a shiver of fear and relief. You can never know how someone else will feel about your work, no matter how proud you are of it and no matter how hard you worked. You just have to have faith that you did your best and what will be will be, and either way, it will all work out.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.
—T.S. Eliot

An hour later, I found out.

They liked what I had made. I passed. My fortune cookie after dinner gave me a high five.

P.S.
Rose gold edge paint on these Austen invitations today made my mouth water.

  1. Gorgeous invitations!
And yes, I know the feeling. I still get that when I have to give a training to new consultants. I always feel like I'm about to go in front of the Inquisition or something.

  2. What gorgeous invitations! And, congratulations on the good news regarding your project. It is always a bit unnerving to hit the send button but you did and it was a success! 🙂 YAY!
