When you’re a self-employeed artist, taxes are HARD. When you become a corporation, it gets way harder and very scary (to me) when you see all the paperwork involved monthly, quarterly and annually and you feel sure you might go to prison for checking a box wrong or adding incorrectly. And when that happens, you have to call a professional because your art brain is no longer capable of taking care of it anymore. And today, I’m feeling thankful for our accountant, Laura, who made all the confusion of taxes seem way less scary. Though it still doesn’t make sense that some quarterly payments are due in June and September and others are due in July and October. NO SENSE.

Also, she has an excellent view of our shop that I only get to see when we visit her.

  1. I decided a couple of years ago the stress I felt during tax time was worth the money I pay an accountant to take care of my taxes. My filing is really simple but I would lose sleep every single year worrying that I missed something.
