On the drive back from from Ben’s parents just north of Tupelo, it surprised me how beautiful the land between here and there is at this certain time of day. I’ve seen it a hundred times, but maybe never in that exact sweet spot of sun up and sun down. North of Macon, the scenery changes. The hills are covered in cotton, corn and beans, as far as your eye can see. The sky today looked like swirls of pink and blue cotton candy. To my great delight, Ben pulled over for me to take photos every single time my heart would catch in my chest at the sight of a fence, a meadow, rows of crops, a Ferris wheel, a tractor.
